Since we were in the Philly suburbs for Heather and Colin’s wedding, we figured that we’d make a stop at Longwood Gardens. We will be shooting an engagement session there in a few weeks and thought it would be a good idea to scout out some locations for the shoot, while enjoying a sunny Saturday afternoon in the gardens. For those of you who have never been there, we highly recommend making the day trip. The grounds were the former estate of the DuPont family and they are spectacular.  They have a topiary garden, fountain area, Italian gardens, and one huge indoor conservatory separated into rooms based on climate. There is even a room dedicated to orchids that must have over 100 different varieties, each one more amazing than the last. We won’t show you the e-session locations, but since we all know a blog post is worthless without pictures, here are a few to make you smile.

What was predicted to be a sunny Saturday afternoon actually turned out to be quite the opposite, but we took our chances and headed to the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ anyway. We waited in the parking lot until the rain settled down a bit, then headed in and quickly snapped photos for about an hour before the rain really started to come down again. Luckily, we timed it perfectly and managed to see almost all of the exhibits, even though we felt a little rushed due to the weather. Rain does have some benefits for shooting pictures though - we had nice, even lighting, and raindrops look pretty neat in macro shots.
